Me, them and tomorrow

I’ve noticed a disturbing trend here at work. There appears to be two types of staff;. the haves and the have nots. The one thing that I have also noticed is that the haves are all mostly from head office and the have nots are people from Calgary. This is not acceptable. The worst thing is that I’m borderline have and so the other haves talk to me like I’m one of them.

One was telling me about her trip to London back in January. I can’t afford to go to London, and if I could afford to fly to the UK, I’d be going to Manchester anyway. Today another person was talking about going to Australia for a week. I’m stuck trying to find a nice place to live for under $1000 a month. Oh and a decent condo would cost me over $200,000. I can’t afford it.

The mood at work is getting uglier and uglier. Even more of the experienced people are leaving. I’m actually been here the longest now. This is not a good sign. I just need to get this moving thing over and done with and then I’ll do my job search. I just don’t like what I see here and for the record, I’m underpaid. At the risk of sounding snobbish and self centered. I should be making more than $2 more than a forklift driver.

I’m sure that these feeling will blow over soon and I can go back to being my smart ass self. I desperate want to go back to writing posts about stuff like the poor people who have to clean the set after a film crew shoots a scene in a porno; the quality control people at a dildo manufacturer, or the HR people at the same plant. Would talking about dildos there be sexual harassment or just talking about the product? I miss writing those posts and having Kati comment that I “must have sex on the mind”

We’ll it has to happen. I know it. I’ve done too much to stop now.

This city is starting to suck big time.

Last night I went to look at a place that was $925 a month. All I have to say is, “ARE YOU SHITTING ME?” The thing turned out to be a Bachelor, which meant there was no bedroom, just some half wall thingy (Wouldn’t it have killed them to put in a full wall and a door?), and only a shower instead of full bath. This crappy hole for $925 a month? I would have taken some pictures with my new camera phone (just arrived yesterday) but I didn’t want to offend the landlord, since she was polite, and I think she also knew that this unit was a piece of crap. Actually someone was using it for an office and there were box and box of cigarettes. It’s was pretty bad, but on the positive side, the stove and the dishwasher were never used.

I used to tell people that Calgary was the place to be. I would tell them that the grass was indeed greener, but now I’m officially telling people to STAY AWAY. There are lots of good jobs in Calgary, but right now the cost of living is out of control. I’m now stuck finding a new place and I can see myself paying $1000 a month. I know people with mortgages that are less than that. It is now coming to the point that a company wants to put up a work camp, because of the cost of living.

I’m now at the point where I’m considering moving to Regina. Regina is a lot smaller than Calgary but it cost of living is also manageable. Oh, when I mean manageable, I mean the rent is HALF of Calgary. I need to find a place to live either way and for now I’m now stuck in Calgary for now.

The big issue right now is that Real Estate developers are buying apartment building and converting them to condos and no one is building new apartment building in the city right now, so the supply goes down and demand goes up and……someone can charge $900 for a shitty hole in the ground.

I used to like this city, but right now I think that it’s starting to suck. Sure there are a lot of nice things in the city what’s the point if you cannot afford to do anything,

Oh don’t worry about me. I do have a plan and I can afford $1000 a month, but just barely. That’s why the job hunt is in order after.

They really make me sick.

I read this and I this is absolute bullshit. Now I’m mad and disgusted with these people. This is another good reason to get off the oil hump. We heard how one side understands and the other side is intolerant. We’ll it looks to me that both sides are rather pathetic. They even try to bring their intolerance here. Oh and apparently these pull shit like this all the time.

So not only do we need to get ride of the oil dependency because of the effect on the environment, but also we need to do so, in order to drop the demand of oil, so these people will run out of money and lose their power. So these people will be forced to act like civilized people instead of the shameful things that they are. I keep hearing that people like this are the exception and not the norm, but I keep seeing evidence saying otherwise.
