I hate them now

I know that today is suppose to be Photo Friday, but I'm still pissed off over yesterday's events and I need to show the world how I'm getting screwed over. First, here's a shot of my old workspace.

See a nice professional cubicle. Looks good doesn't it. My PC, with LCD screen, a phone and space for binders, documents or other things that I would need. Oh and room to eat my lunch.

This is where I am now, notice the lack of space? I've moved my PC over after, but let's look at what is here now. I have less than a quarter of the space. I no longer have a phone, and the desk itself is a piece of crap. Oh and notice the work environment? I'm in the BLEEPING WAREHOUSE. I'm right beside a conveyor line. THIS SERIOUSLY BLOWS.

Oh and yes, I no longer have a phone. I'm the IT person and I don't have a phone!!! As you can tell, serious planning went into this. Luckily I've been issued a work cell phone, so I send an e-mail out to everyone that they need to use the new number to contact me now. I should consider myself lucky in this point, since I was issued a cell phone.

Also I did another analysis of my new location compared to my old location, I'm almost as far away from my old location as possible. If I were 30ft farther, I'd be out of the building. On the bright side, I'm sure that I can now go days without seeing the face of the person who did this to me. The man who is responsibility for my humiliation.

Some people are telling me, that I'll get over it within a month, and they keep going on about my new title, Inventory Analyst. I'm sorry, but a title isn't going to cut it. Every day I come in and feel nothing but rage. I want to string someone up, but I need to keep my cool, until I get a new job, and then...well, I'm planing to buying a domain to tell me story.

UPDATE:Now they're taking my company cell phone away.

Work is pissing me off.

This is what happened. I’m away from my desk for 15 minutes to deal with an issue and when I get back, the DC Manger tells me that I should have a note on my desk when I’m away. LEAVE A NOTE SO PEOPLE CAN FIND ME? WHY DON’T I JUST WEAR A COLLAR WITH A LITTLE BELL SO PEOPLE CAN FIND ME THAT WAY? I MEAN REALLY.

Let’s get this straight. I carry a company cell phone as well as a cordless phone with my phone extension, but NOOOOO, now I have to waste my time making up stupid signs every time I have to leave my cubicle. What’s next? Having to ask permission to go to the bathroom? Maybe I should have a bed pan at my desk? Hell, let’s just chain me to my chair from 8:00am to 4:30pm? Get the feeling that I’m miffed?

I’m starting to feel a little “taken for granted” here (Ok I’m feeling A LOT “taken for granted”. It’s the same crap and now they keep assigning me to do stupid stuff like, cleaning the front office, and putting paper in the photocopier. I didn’t get my degree so I could spend my day filling a photocopier and buzz people into the front door, and have people ask me if were hiring in such a thick Punjabi accent that I can barely understand them.

Oh, and another thing, what REALLY pisses me off is when people come in and as soon as they see someone else who’s of their ethnic group, they suddenly ignore me. They talk to that person in their own language. Needless to say, when I hand their application over to HR, I mention the exchange, and how rude they are.

Basically that is what pisses me off at work right now.

One nice thing though, I was given a Toblerone and a Hot Chocolate today, so their not all bad.

"The Office" my version

Jay said that I may have a Office Dilbert/Sage thing happening and perhaps she’s right. After all I would never question the wisdom of Canada’s finest blogger. Why she hasn’t appeared on The Hour, yet is beyond me. Apparently she has noticed my ability to see what office life is REALLY like. I believe that it’s time to test my theory.

I spent part of yesterday rearranging the stationary shelves. Bear in mind that I’m an IT person. At least I was able to get someone in the warehouse to throw the garbage out, so I didn’t have to leave the climate controlled comfort of the office. So from one moment I’m the IT Guru and then next I’m rearranging the office supplies. Meanwhile the ‘boss” keeps telling me “I know your IT but…” At least one of the HR people helped me, so it didn’t seemed like I was being singled out, but still…

I try not to talk about work because, let’s face it; very little people enjoy their jobs. If you enjoy what you do, you’re either self employed, making a six figure income or mentally challenged. There’s no other way around it. Working for someone else, sucks. That’s why I’m going to ‘go it alone”.

This is what I’ve noticed. There are two types of people, the people who whine about a situation and the time who do something about it. This place is FULL of people of people who whine. WAHH I DON’T WANT OVERTIME. WAHH I WANT OVERTIME. WAHH I WANT MORE MONEY.WAHH WAHH ME ME ME. I’ve experienced that level of frustration, but the difference is that I’ve done something about it. I went and earned a degree and now I’m starting my own business.

I’ve seen many types of management around here. We tend to got through managers like Paris Hilton goes through blank videotapes. I’ve seen the hand on micromanager, and the ivory tower manager and everything in between. Personally I despise the Ivory tower manager. This is a person who never leaves their office and only takes the word of the supervisor without looking at the facts. Personally I hate those types of people. One day after I have the business working, I hope to meet this guy and tell him how I really feel.

I really don’t like to blog about the work environment because to be honest, it’s not a pleasant thing to blog about. The office environment is just a stupid place to be. The movie “Office Space” got the whole work environment thing right. The manager who only talks and doesn’t listen and the guy in the far corner muttering about “setting the building on fire”. I might not be the person who wants to set the building on fire, but I know who that person is. Sometimes that doesn’t sound like a bad idea.
