Well yesterday I wrote a post about my feelings, in regards to the battle in the Superior Court of the U.S. about P2P technology. I wrote the post during a meal break at work (just like this one) and as a result, I didn’t have time to properly proof read it and my rage went over the Internet, spelling mistakes, grammatical errors and all.
Now I went through this crap loooonnng again and I had gotten to the point where I had the problem taken care of. Lately after I proof read my posts, I would have a speech program read them back to me so that it would be fine and I didn’t miss anything. Well lately, I’ve been writing my posts from work and I don’t have access to that program (this PC actually sucks, there’s no sound coming out of it at all). So basically It appeared that I had the spelling and grammar skills of a 6th grader. Oh well.
Anyway, please forgive my spelling mistakes (I’m pissed at myself for them) and I’ll try to make sure that I’ll no longer post any entries with spelling errors or sentences that don’t make any sense (OK I’m lying about that part)

I'm sick of these anti tech dumbasses
Well the shit has reached the Supreme Court of the United States. What shit am I talking about? The bullshit with the record and movie companies trying to make P2P (peer to peer) technology illegal. Now some people might think it’s simply an issue of trying to prevent piracy, but its not. It’s something far bigger than that. It’s the right of the tech industry to create new innovations without some grease ball movie producer having a say in wither that technology can go to market or be evolved. Can you guess which side I’m on?
The good news is that right now the Supreme Court is grilling the money grubbing scum movie producers about hindering the tech market in creating new products. So hopefully the Supreme Court will side with every other court ruling and side with Grokster. I think that the price of ruling in the movie companies favor will be too high.
Personally I’m sick of hearing this crap from the MPAA and the RIAA about how their industry is doomed. Well guess what. Any industry that fails to meet with the changes in the market is destined to be doomed. If the music industry were to embrace this new form of distribution instead of fighting it, then perhaps they would be in better shape. I hear that I-Tunes and other online music sites make a lot of money.
Another company that made the transition to the digital era rather well is Kodak. They used to be the king of film photography but as they noticed that the industry was going digital, they too went that route by creating new technology to meet the needs of digital photography, from printer paper to digital cameras. Kodak is still an industry leader because they managed to change with the times.
Oh and anyone bothered to buy a stagecoach lately? Seems like that market has dried up. It appears to me that the film and recording industry wants to sell stagecoaches in the 21st century. Its time to adapt to the times people.
With this argument, a lot of emphasis is placed on the Betamax ruling, back in 1984. It basically said that the VCR manufacturers were not liable for the misuse of their product. Back then, the film industry claimed that the VCR was going to cause their demise. Well we all saw the effects of that. A whole new industry was created (ever been to Blockbuster?) and movies tended to make more on release to VHS (and now DVD) than they did on the first run in movie theatres. Oh and now whole seasons of TV shows are now being released on DVD. Now tell me again how the film and television is hurting with this new market. The Family Guy is being brought back to broadcast television because DVD sales did so well.
So film and music industry, I want you guys to stop with the ‘sky is falling’ doom predictions and shut up and release a Batman Beyond box set of all the episodes so I can buy the damn thing.

I'm number two and three
Well for the fun of it, I’ve decided to Google “Tales from the Great White North” and see if I could come up. In the past, It wasn’t showing up at all, which sort of pissed me off but then I manually put in my blog title into the blog’s meta tag (look it up, I’m not explaining it, it’s too geeky for here). After awhile things started to change and my people could soon type my blog name into a search engine to get here.
Today I Googled “Tales from the Great White North” and I came in third. Respectable I guess but the first place selection seemed to be a dead link, (for some northern tour company I think) and the second was from someone talking about Nunavut and to be honest, that is the True North. Calgary is Florida compared to Nunavut, wayyyy up north in the tundra So I’ll concede third
Then I used Yahoo and tried the same thing and came in second. Looking better I thought. Then to my shock, I discovered that my title wasn’t unique. There was another Tales from the Great White North blog on Blogger. What the… I though. No. I had it first. It was mine, I thought. So I went through this other blog and the guy from Michigan and he’s only posted a handful of times since August. How dare he come before me??? What does he know of the Great White North. Then I saw it. His blog URL had great north in it. Canuck wannabe.
So next I tried Ask Jeeves and once again I came in second The Nunavut thing came in first and there was no sigh of the fake Tales from the Great White North. I didn’t even show up on MSN Search so they suck now. Actually I put the title in quotes and tried again and my site didn’t show up either but for some reason. “Give me the Booger” came in second. SOMEONE EXPLAIN THIS TO ME??? Is this because the feds have been visiting your site SJ?.
Well it appears that I’m finally starting to man an impact on the WWW so I’m overly pleased with myself.

Lost
I'm feeling lost right now. Not the "where the heck am I' lost but the 'how did I end up here and how do I find my way again" kind of lost. I'm even sure what to write about. That's how lost I am.
I remember having all these plans and how I was going to make a difference and then reality set in. I didn't get that job for CNN, heck I didn't get that job working some local TV station with a population of only 50 thousand people. I was feeling like I lost my way and I'm scared that I'm starting to feel that way again. I'm starting to feel like a simple animal, living in the moment and not thinking about the future, the past or anything else. This is not what my parents raised.
I have so much to offer and yet no one has taken advantage of it yet. I would like to think that I'm a decent person but are forces rallying against me?
Please forgive me for my lack of humor today for my heart just isn't in it.

I'm no fashion expert but I know crap when I see it.
Will someone please tell me who in their right minds would wear this thing? Oh and can someone please tell me why I sound like one of the "Queer Eyes for the Straight Guy" hosts. I know that I'm not gay but come on here. This shirt is absolutely horrid. This shirt says "I stay home all day and watch lame ass game shows". This shirt should only be worn by seniors only.
Anyway I found this at the CBS store's website and I thought. UHHHH. Oh I'm not saying that everything is garbage on that site (I still wear my Late Show baseball cap with pride) but come on here. Who needs "Young and the Restless" Boxers or a "Bold and the Beautiful" golf towel. Who buys this stuff and more importantly how many velvet portraits of Jesus hang in their home.
You know I wonder how long for people to come up with bad marketing ideas like this. How long did it take people to come up with "The Guiding Light" T-Cup and saucer. Then again bad ideas tend to make a lot of money. How many people bought that stupid "Clapper" thing. People saw the commercial with the old lady clapping her hands and though, "Yeah I can clap and not have to get my lazy ass out of bed to turn off a light as well". Then you get used to clapping, go to a neighbors house and try it and you end up looking like a moron.
Well I've looked through all the stuff at the CBS website and yep, not impressed. Though if anyone wants to buy me something, just for the heck of it, the long sleeved "Amazing Race" T-Shirt would be nice... I mean not as bad.
